Philosophy and Curriculum Overview

Our philosophy at SCC is rooted in the belief that every child is unique and deserves the opportunity to thrive. We understand the importance of play in a child's social, emotional, and intellectual development, and our curriculum reflects this understanding. We believe in balancing both free and intentional play to create a dynamic learning environment where children are actively engaged and motivated to learn. Our teachers carefully design lesson plans to include a variety of hands-on, minds-on experiences that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our students, laying the foundation for later learning and academic success.

Inspired Approach to Academics and Arts

At SCC, we take an inspired approach to academics and the arts, recognizing the value of both intellectual and creative growth. We understand that children in the preschool years are very sense-oriented and learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process. Our curriculum focuses on stimulating natural curiosity through activities that require observation, exploration, and creativity. Art and music play a critical role in our program, allowing children to express themselves creatively and develop essential skills such as fine motor skills, self-confidence, and imagination. Through process art and daily exploration in music, movement, finger play, and songs, we enrich the child's ability to communicate and express themselves in a variety of ways.

The Importance of Socialization

Socialization is fundamental in early childhood experiences, and at SCC, we prioritize the development of social skills such as cooperation, communication, and empathy. Through play and group activities, children learn to articulate their ideas, respect others, and build meaningful relationships. Our teachers create a supportive and inclusive environment where children feel valued and accepted, fostering a sense of belonging and community. By promoting prosocial behavior and nurturing empathy in our young children, we lay the foundation for positive social interactions and relationships that will last a lifetime.
